Intro to Improv: Learning to Play | Winter 2025

This class is a beginner’s introduction to the fundamentals of improvisational comedy. Improv is a great way to bring more play into your life, sharpen your quick-thinking skills, and boost your public speaking confidence. If you’ve ever dreamed of performing in a live improv comedy show, now’s your chance! Learn how to be funny, engaging on stage, and most importantly, have fun!

Students will learn the basics of improv, including:

  • The “Yes, and” principle: active listening and building on ideas with proactive agreement.
  • Working as a team and making authentic human connections on stage.
  • Using your voice and body, and exploring a range of human emotions.
  • Making bold, confident choices in the moment.
  • Creating spontaneous scenes and characters on the fly.
